Scottish Skies
Like my love for you
the on and on-ness of those Scottish skies
far sky there here sky made clear by clouds
of all things, clouds
Children in a blue playground clouds
some flatten and fly trying not to be seen
rushing on to disappear
some brooding with furrowed brow
some puff up and swell big bullies of the sky
then climbing over each other crying and shouting
scraping knees on volcanic mountain scapes
Sometimes they are known for crashing down hail
greeting the ground joyfully spilling cold white pearls
ping pop and jump off mounds of moss
rolling to rest in the still of my heart
little tight spitballs of clouds
Some now rimmed in crowning holy light
some whisper snow and sugar the mountain breast
What a collection gathering and clashing and moving on
drifting toward a nearer that never comes
like you my love waiting for you
