Claude Levi-Strauss in his book Myth and Meaning: Cracking the Code of Culture, noted the absurdity and great variation and variables in myths across the globe. Because the absurdity repeated itself in different ways and in different cultures he theorized that the repetition indicated order and if he could reveal the structure of that order - it would lead to meaning.
I am not looking for order - I'm looking for origin. Let's start with origin.
I want to slip into the mythic imagination of ancient man long before science steps onto the stage, hoping to dive back into the womb of the great Mother only to be reborn with fresh eyes and a mind wiped clean of the world explained away by science and disconnected systems of social order. To stand on a vast Saharan plain and just wonder where the light went and how the now black sky could be so full of another kind of light.
